India to occupy centrestage at Moscow book fair

India will occupy the centrestage at the XXII Moscow International Book Fair starting early next month.  The inauguration of the book fair on September 2 will coincide with the five-day state visit of President Pratibha Patil at the invitation of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

As a part of the Year of India in Russia celebrations India would have the central stall at the book fair spreading across a floor space of 1,000 meters, Gennady Kuzminov, spokesman of the organisers said. The stall would showcase books in English and Indian languages, Kuzminov said, adding a delegation of poets and writers will also participate in the book fair.

On September 3, the two leaders will witness a gala performance by the Indian artists, the main event of the Year of India in Russia.
